About Watkins Family Dental

Dr. Watkins graduated from Centre College in 1996. He got a degree in studio art with a focus on glass and ceramics. After receiving a Masters of Education from the University of Louisville in 1999, he went on to teach art for six years in the Jefferson County Public School system.

It was while watching an episode of “Extreme Makeover” that Dr. Watkins first made the connection between dentistry and art. He realized the importance of a beautiful smile and what a difference a person’s teeth and gums can make in their appearance. It inspired a change of career and a lifelong obsession to help people look and feel their very best. Dr. Watkins went back to school and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 2009 with a degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine. 

Dr. Watkins’ wife Victoria is a high school French teacher at Atherton High School. He has two children, Madison, a junior at the University of Louisville, and Luke, a junior at Atherton.
